JOANNE GERVAIS

Owner and founder of the Gervais School of Performing Arts in Hadley, Massachusetts from 1997-2005, Joanne Gervais has been instructing Dance since the age of eighteen. A former student of Dorothy Beaton and Rosemary Boyden of the DeLutis School of Dance in Mansfield, Ms. Gervais went on to major in History and Dance at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Ms. Gervais has studied with such Jazz greats Chet Walker, Robert LaFosse, and Donald McKayle. She was the visiting artist in Jazz Dance at Mount Holyoke from 2002 – 2005. Ms. Gervais was also the recipient of many awards in the field of Jazz while studying to be a certified dance teacher with the Dance Teachers’ Club of Boston. Her teen dancers were well-known in Western Massachusetts for their artistry and professionalism. Ms. Gervais is a member of the Dance Teachers’ Club of Boston, (since 1997), and is a Massachusetts State certified teacher in Social Studies. She is also a certified Pilates Matwork instructor through the Physical Mind institute of Santa Fe. Joanne lives in Concord with her two children and is a Basset Hound lover.
